Auto Ducking: Volume Control

Your Mac turns music down when you talk, up when you stop

About

Auto Ducking is a macOS menu bar app. When a microphone app becomes active (dictation, voice notes, calls), it fades your system volume down to a level you choose and restores it when the mic is released. Per-app rules, presets, restore delay, per-device levels and a global hotkey. It only checks whether the mic is in use and never records or uploads audio. macOS 14+. Free 7 days, then $7.99 one-time.

Hi, I'm Chris. I built Auto Ducking because I kept forgetting to turn the music back up after dictating. It lowers your Mac volume while the mic is in use and restores it afterwards. It never records audio. Feedback welcome!
